About The CVCWCA

The Central Virginia Civil War Collectors Association  (CVCWCA) is an organization of Civil War collectors, relic hunters, history buffs, and antique military enthusiasts.  The club now meets on the 4th Tuesday of every month (except July and December) at 7:15 p.m. at American Legion Post 244, located at 2522 Indale Rd in Glen Allen, Virginia.  Activities include presentations related to Civil War artifacts,  history, and guest speakers.  A “Best Dug Relic of the Month” competition with an award is one of the many meeting highlights.  Members bring in various dug and non-dug items for discussion.  The CVCWCA has occasionally sponsored field trips to battlefields and museums, and at times has sponsored artifact displays at history related events in and around the Richmond area.

The Central Virginia Civil War Collector’s Association, (formerly the Central Virginia Relic Hunters Association), was organized to promote the study and preservation of American history, and to identify and preserve historical artifacts and sites.  Organized in Richmond in 1980 with 29 charter members, our membership now totals around 100.  We are always striving to enlist new members who desire to share our common bonds.

Charter Members of the CVRHA in 1980 were David Batalo, Phil Bell, Mike Bessellieu, Robert Blackwell, Robert Burnham, Mark Carl, Eddie Collins, Doug Deckner, Bruce Deem, Wayne Diehl, Jerry Duggan, John Duggan, Richard Duggan, John Dulick, Barry Jett, Tommy Johnson, Bruce Leftwich, Dennis Madison, Tom Major, Billy McKinley, Sterling Neblett, Ronnie O’Connell, Harry Phelps, Kenny Pickle, Lloyd Pugh, Steve Sharpe, Dale Snair, Marvin Wilson, and Robert Winningham.

The Central Virginia Civil War Collectors Association has co-hosted the very successful “Capital of the Confederacy Civil War Show” for over 40 years.  This annual event continues now as the "Central Virginia Military Antique Show" and will surely be considered one of the best militaria shows in the Country. The Show is held every November.  Beginning this year (2023) the Show will be at MEADOW EVENT PARK, 13191 Dawn Blvd. (Rt. 30), Doswell VA. 23047.  It continues to be hosted by Carl Sitherwood and Mike Ward (See BulletAndShell.com) and co-hosted by CVCWCA !
