Club Meetings for 2008
The Central Virginia Civil War Collectors Association meets on the first Tuesday of every month (except July) at 7:15 p.m. at the Hunton Civic Association Building located at the intersection of Mill Road and Old Washington Highway in Glen Allen, Virginia (See map below). Activities include presentations related to Civil War artifacts and history, guest speakers, and light refreshments. A “Best Dug Relic of the Month” competition and award is one highlight of every meeting.
The current meeting schedule and programs for 2008 are as follows:
January 8 Sam Craghead from the Museum of The Confederacy will speak on the future of the Museum.
February 5 Tim Parsley will speak on the manufacture of reproduction buckles.
March 4 Dr. Louis Manarin, author of “Henrico County..Field of Honor” and Sarah Pace, president of the Henrico County Historical Society, will speak on Henrico County during the war.
April 1 Fred Ray, from Ashville, NC will speak on Confederate Sharpshooters.
May 6 (open)
June 3 Dave Vander Haeghe will speak on the Kilpatrick cavalry camp. He will also be bringing some of his finds from that camp. July 1 (No Meeting In July)
August 5 (open)
September 2 Favorite Relic Night held once a year. Club members bring one favorite item or a table full. Dug and non-dug items. Tables furnished. This is one of our best attended meetings.
October 7 Meeting at the Museum of the Confederacy. Be there before 7pm.
November 4 Meeting devoted to planning for the Nov. 22-23 Show.
