Club Meetings In 2010
The Central Virginia Civil War Collectors Association now meets on the 4th Tuesday of every month (except December) at 7:15 p.m., at American Legion Post 244 located at 2522 Indale Rd. in Glen Allen, Virginia (See map above). Activities include presentations related to Civil War artifacts and history, guest speakers, and light refreshments. A “Best Dug Relic of the Month” competition and award is one of many meeting highlights.
The current meeting schedule and programs for 2010 are as follows:
January 26 (4th Tuesday) Our own Steve Schmidt will give a presentation on "Relics of the Western Theater". Steve has spent many years with his metal detector searching the battlefields of both the Eastern and Western Theaters. This will be one meeting not to miss.
February 23 (4th Tuesday) Chief Ranger Tim Mauch of Richmond National Battlefield Park will give a presentation on "Archaeological Resource Protection". This presentation will cover such topics as resources of the park, park boundary markers, and vandalism in the park.
March 23 (4th Tuesday) Artist and author Henry Kidd will give a presentation on the "Battle of the Crater" which is the subject of his new book.
April 27 (4th Tuesday) Dr. Adrian Wheat will give a presentation on "Civil War Medicine and it's Instruments". He will have many of his own instruments and encourages our members to bring in their medical instruments to share with the other members.
